Developmental Editing (Big Picture)

Developmental editing looks at the big picture of your story and identifies areas that may need further development or revision.

This includes:

  • Plot holes and inconsistencies
  • Missing or unnecessary details
  • Pacing issues
  • Character and storyline development
  • Story structure and flow

Feedback includes clear explanations and practical suggestions on what to revise, expand, cut, or reconsider.

Content / Line Editing (Refinement)

Content and line editing focus on improving your manuscript at the sentence and paragraph levels without changing your voice or writing style.

This includes:

  • Clarity and readability
  • Sentence structure and flow
  • Awkward or unclear wording

A Quick Note

Proofreading: I don’t currently offer.

Pricing: Pricing is POA and depends on the length of your manuscript and the level of editing required.

Turnaround: Turnaround times vary depending on manuscript length and the scope of the edit. An estimated timeframe will be provided with your quote.

Genres: I work across a range of genres, particularly romance, crime, mystery and women’s fiction. However, I don’t take on horror, graphic erotica, or manuscripts that include explicit or inappropriate content involving minors or grotesque violence.

I studied Professional Writing (Creative Arts) at TAFE and have been working with writers for over 15 years. My approach is to improve your manuscript without changing your individual writing style or voice.

Availability

I only take on a limited number of editing projects each year, so availability will vary.
